What do you love about ministry?
I love teaching people and seeing them trusting Jesus in real life. Really knowing, loving, and working shoulder to shoulder with God’s people excites me to no end. Ministry is hard work, but I regularly say to myself, “I can’t believe I get to do this!”

“Run, John, run!” the Law demands but gives me neither feet nor hands. Far grander news the gospel brings; It bids me, “Fly!” and gives me wings!” –John Bunyan

After Noah, prior to almost everyone else. I was brought up in this church, did not attend in my middle years, and finally trusted Christ in my 50’s. This is the only church where I have ever been a member.

What do you love about ministry?
I love seeing how God works through us for His plans and purposes. He takes what is most broken about us and uses it to show our need for His forgiveness and power so that we can encourage others to taste His goodness.

“I am looking for the fellowship of the burning heart. Men and women of all generations and everywhere that love the Savior until ‘adoration’ has become the new word, and they do not have to be entertained and amused. This Christ was everything. He was their all in all.” -A. W. Tozer

I have a recipe for Butter Pecan ice cream. Grown men weep, and women swoon. It’s not too bad. If you ever pair it with maple waffles—RIOT!

Pet Peeves
Rambling phone calls. I only mind others’ calls, not my own of course.

What do you love about ministry?
Growing in love. Jesus explained to the disciples that love for each other would be the hallmark and assurance of those who loved Him. Encouraging one another to love and good works is not always easy. My natural self would stay a loner and not risk the involvement of the body beyond a corporate weekly meeting on Sunday. Yet, God’s grace has enabled me to put off my selfish ambitions and choose to care for, encourage, and love individuals. Seeing us together, as a body of spiritually gifted individuals, experiencing God’s love and faithfulness, as He builds us up in Him, is seeing God at work.

“Aslan is a lion—the Lion, the great Lion.” “Ooh,” said Susan. “I’d thought he was a man. Is he—quite safe? I shall feel rather nervous about meeting a lion” . . . “Safe?” said Mr. Beaver . . . “Who said anything about safe? ‘Course he isn't safe. But he's good. He's the King, I tell you.” –C. S. Lewis
